Dr. Brent Wiesel is the chief of the shoulder service at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital and a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Georgetown University School of Medicine. His practice focuses exclusively on shoulder and elbow surgery. Dr. Wiesel specializes in both traditional open surgery as well as minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery.
Dr. Wiesel’s specific areas of interest include:
Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair
Shoulder replacement
Reverse shoulder replacement
Shoulder dislocations
Shoulder fracture (including the proximal humerus and clavicle)
Elbow fractures and dislocations
Elbow replacement
Dr. Wiesel graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown in 1997. He earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 2002. Following that, he completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania and an additional year of training in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia.
